Arizona Breastnet Is Now Offering Clinical Breast Examinations

Scottsdale, Ariz. - September 11, 2008 - Arizona Breastnet, a breast imaging center in Scottsdale, announces that Diane Bourget, Clinical Coordinator, successfully completed the requirements to become a Certified MammaCare Clinical Breast Examiner. MammaCare is the recognized standard for teaching and performing clinical breast examination in breast cancer screening clinics. Women and clinicians properly trained in MammaCare have found breast cancers as small as 3 mm in diameter.

Dr. Belinda Barclay-White, Founder and Medical Director of Arizona Breastnet, is very pleased that Breastnet is now offering Clinical Breast Exams to their patients as part of a complete breast health program. "As we all know, mammograms are considered the gold standard for catching breast cancer early because the technology can detect tumors too small to be felt even by an experienced physician. However, mammograms as important as they are, are not 100% foolproof, which is why a CBE by a trained examiner is strongly recommended. Combining this exam with a yearly mammogram and monthly Breast Self-Exams, further reduces the risk of missing a breast cancer."

Barclay-White is extremely pleased with the reaction from her patients. Part of the exam includes a training session on the proper way to conduct a Breast Self-Exam. "Many patients have told us that they are unsure of how to do a Breast Self-Exam so they appreciate the extra training and guidance they receive from Diane," according to Barclay-White.

When a tumor is detected at an early stage, there are more treatment options available and higher cure rates than when it is detected at a more advanced stage. Barclay-White strongly recommends yearly mammograms with Clinical Breast Exams so if something should become a problem, it is found as soon as possible.
