Arizona Breastnet Announces Conversion to Digital Mammography
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Scottsdale, Ariz. - March 12, 2007 - Arizona
Breastnet announces the successful conversion
from analog to digital mammography as of February 1.
Dr. Belinda Barclay-White, owner and medical director
of Arizona Breastnet since 1998, provides the best in
breast care to women throughout the valley. "Because
we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of new
technology in the breast health arena, we knew it was
time to make the conversion to digital."
Today, only 8% of mammography performed in the United
States is digital. Although the rest of radiology has
been digital for a long time, the images required for
mammography needed to be of superior quality.
Barclay-White waited until she thought the time was
right to make this conversion. "It is like buying your
first computer, knowing the technology is improving in
leaps and bounds and not wanting to buy too early, but
not being left behind! I have made the leap and am
thrilled with the images and the advantages digital
offers," says Barclay-White.
Digital mammography is faster, as the radiologists no
longer have to wait for films to be developed in the
darkroom. This enables Breastnet to deliver even quicker
results to their patients at the time of their visit,
which fits well with the Breastnet philosophy. According
to Barclay-White, "The images are spectacular and allow
the radiologist to see calcifications more easily, which
translates to fewer additional views before a diagnosis
can be made. I also find I have to do fewer compression
views to distinguish normal overlapping tissue from real
breast lumps."
Arizona Breastnet is a full service breast diagnostic
center with a different philosophy - all patients
consult with the doctor for immediate results
at the time of their appointment
and the images are reviewed together at the viewing station.
Any additional procedures that may be required are performed at
the time of the visit. If a needle biopsy for a
suspicious lump is indicated, this can be performed
within 24 hours and results are communicated to the
patient the next day.
"It is important to all of us at Breastnet that our
patients leave our office knowing the outcome of
their exam so each woman never has to wonder,
worry or wait for their results. This puts the
woman in control of her own healthcare decisions,"
states Barclay-White.
